This month, we will be donating to the Trevor Project

MISSION

The Trevor Project is an organization with a mission to end suicide among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning young people. They envision a world where all LGBTQ youth can see a bright future for themselves. The organization has five key programs through which they aim to achieve their mission and vision:

Crisis Services: The Trevor Project seeks to significantly expand the number of crisis contacts served and enhance the diversity and representation of their crisis contacts. They aim to provide effective and inclusive support to every LGBTQ young person who reaches out to them, while optimizing their systems for long-term viability. They also plan to lay the foundation for future growth to support LGBTQ youth internationally and in new languages.

Peer Support: The organization aims to dramatically grow their peer support services, known as TrevorSpace, to reach more LGBTQ youth globally. They strive to create the safest, most welcoming, and engaging online experience for a diverse range of LGBTQ youth. The Trevor Project also commits to continually assessing and optimizing TrevorSpace to ensure it remains effective and accessible.

Research: The Trevor Project seeks to significantly expand their impact in scientific inquiry within LGBTQ youth mental health. They aim to grow their body of research and establish impactful partnerships for research. The organization also focuses on publishing high-impact content that can be consumed beyond academia and incorporating cutting-edge research into their services.

Public Education: The organization aims to build and refine educational and training products that can help reduce LGBTQ youth suicide. They plan to create an online resource hub for LGBTQ youth and youth-facing adults, offering free and accessible learning modules. The Trevor Project also aims to increase public awareness of the organization and key topics related to LGBTQ youth and suicide prevention.

Advocacy: The Trevor Project advocates for the protection of LGBTQ youth from harmful practices such as conversion therapy. They work at the local, state, and federal levels through legislation and litigation. Additionally, they aim to expand the collection of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) information in death records and government surveys on youth to create more accurate data. The organization also advocates for the implementation of effective and inclusive suicide prevention policies in every school district in the United States.

The Trevor Project operates based on guiding principles such as diversity and inclusion, youth-centricity, growth, quality, innovation, and having a best-in-class team. They estimate that over 1.8 million LGBTQ youth in the United States seriously consider suicide each year, emphasizing the urgent need for their work.

Beautiful sleeves! <3

I’m in love with these sleeves! They’re so pretty and exactly what I wanted. The only thing is they fall down when I’m using my arms too much. Maybe it’s because I’ve got noodles arms but I got an XS and they’re a little too big! I’ll still find a way to make them work for E Forest tho!
