One of the hardest parts of being part of the rave and music festival scene is deciding where you are going to head next. A real struggle, we know. For real though - the sheer amount of choice you have, especially if you're splitting your time between music festivals and raves, it can leave you feeling a little bit overwhelmed. This is especially true if you’re just starting out on your music festival adventures and don’t even have a clue where to start. If you are feeling choice-paralysis, don’t worry. We’re here to give info on some of our personal favorite festivals!
Hive Music Festival
The Hive Music Festival might be an odd choice to start with, considering that the Utah based hip-hop festival is still a pretty new one. However, as one of the first festivals to try to struggle out of the COVID slump, it received a good deal of attention, good and bad, this summer. Cancellations of artists due to COVID led to a rough start, but Hive Music Festival managed to turn into a true redemption story in its second day, thanks to heavy lifting done by the tattoo-man himself, Post Malone. Hive Music festival represents untapped potential - if you love hip-hop, and want a festival without any pre-conceived expectations, you might want to get your coolest rave festival outfits and head on over to Utah.
Electric Forest Music Festival
The nextElectric Forest Festival is landing in June of 2022, in Rothbury Michigan - so you can start getting tickets and getting ready today! Happening every year in Rothbury, this will be the festival’s first time back after a COVID hiatus. Electric Forest is all about giving a trippy experience, focusing on electronic music and jam bands. What makes Electric forest so special is the beautiful and chill woodland setting. What makes Electric Forest so special to us is the way that it mixes the best aspects of music festival and rave. During the day, you can relax in the beautiful outdoors, and at night you can get your best rave festival outfits ready, and bask in the neon glow of intense electronica.
Coachella Music Festival
Out of all the entries on this list, Coachella needs no introduction. It looks like Coachella 2022 is going to be good to go this April in Indio, so if you haven’t experienced it before, this could be a perfect time. Coachella is just as much about the festival clothing and style as it is about the music these days, and has grown to be one of the biggest and most influential music festivals out there. This rise in popularity might make Coachella too expensive and “mainstream” to some, but it also makes it a good entry point for those new to music festivals.
iHeartRadio Music Festival
Some of you might know iHeartRadio as an internet radio broadcasting. However, the company also runs events, such as the iHeartRadio Theater performances in Los Angeles and New York. However, iHeart Radio has also been hosting the iHeartRadio Music Festival, which takes place in Las Vegas every year, alongside a special television broadcast. The iHeartRadio Music Festival is an event that brings out only the biggest names in the music industry, with last year’s lineup featuring Billie Eilish and Coldplay. If you love the hits, then make sure to schedule out time for iHeartRadio Music Festival in the fall.
Bonnaroo Music Festival
Bonnaroo Music Festival takes place every summer in Manchester Tennesee and is one of the most jammed-pack with goodness music festivals out there. Want music? Enjoy 150+ musicians every summer. Hungry? Enjoy some of the greatest festival food out there. Want more entertainment? Bonnaroo is packed with tons of art, presentation, and activities for everyone to enjoy. One of the best parts of Bonnaroo has to be the style, however. If you have rave festival outfits that you want to show off, this is certainly the place to do it!
Baja Beach Fest
Looks to enjoy sand and surf along with your music festival? Then the Baja Beach Fest is the place to be - and they’ll be releasingtheir lineup for 2022 pretty soon! Baja Beach Fest is also the one festival on this list that’s out of the United States - though not by far, taking place on Rosario Beach in Baja California. The Baja Beach Fest definitely brings a Latin twist to the music festival - expect plenty of performers from Latin singers, and genres like Reggaeton to dominate. Baja Beach Fest is also relentless in the fun it offers, with plenty of afterparties and the like to sate all your music festival and raving needs.
How to Get Ready For a Year Of Festivals
Getting ready for festivals can seem like a lot of hard work for something that is supposed to be all about fun. However, it doesn’t necessarily need to be a drag. Planning out a year of festivals just requires a few simple steps.
First and foremost, you need to set some realistic goals. How many festivals do you think you can really hit in a year? If you are a festival newbie, don’t be afraid to start off with a small amount and work your way up year by year. You’ll also want to consider a festival budget which can be the limiter on the number of festivals you go to. Remember to not just take into account tickets, but also the cost of travel, accommodations, food - and, of course, your cute rave outfits.
