Follow these rave clothing care instructions to keep your bodysuits, holographic pieces, and accessories looking as fire at your 50th festival as they did at your first.
The Golden Rules of Rave Wear Care
Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, hang dry. That's it. No dryer, no bleach, no fabric softener. Here's why: Cold water protects the vibrant prints and specialty fabrics we use in every piece. The gentle cycle prevents stretching our performance materials. Hang drying preserves the elasticity and prevents shrinkage that destroys the fit. And fabric softener? It coats the fibers and breaks down the stretch—exactly what you don't want in a bodysuit that needs to move with you all night.
Care by Product Type
Bodysuits & One-Pieces
Turn your rave bodysuits inside out before washing—this protects prints, holographic finishes, and any embellishments from friction. Toss them in a mesh laundry bag (seriously, invest in one) to prevent straps from tangling or hooks from snagging. Machine wash cold on gentle, then hang to dry. Never wring them out—just press excess water out gently and lay flat or hang on a padded hanger.
Tops, Bottoms & Sets
Same rules apply: inside out, mesh bag, cold water, gentle cycle, hang dry. For pieces with cutouts or strappy details, the mesh bag is non-negotiable. These are the pieces that get tangled in the wash and come out looking like they survived a mosh pit—not the vibe.
Sleeves, Leg Wraps & Accessories
Hand washing is ideal for delicate accessories, especially anything with UV-reactive or holographic finishes. Fill a sink with cold water, add a tiny bit of gentle detergent, swish gently, rinse thoroughly, and hang to dry. If you must machine wash, use the delicates cycle and always use a mesh bag.
Special Care for Specialty Fabrics
UV-reactive and holographic pieces are next-level—but they need a little extra love. Never use bleach (it destroys the special coatings). Avoid direct sunlight when storing—UV fabrics can fade if left in bright light long-term. Wash separately the first time to prevent any color transfer. And always air dry—heat is the enemy of holographic finishes.
Storage Tips for Festival Season (and Off-Season)
Between festivals, store your pieces hanging when possible—especially bodysuits and anything with stretch. Folding can create creases that are tough to get out of performance fabrics. Use padded hangers for anything with straps. If you're tight on space, fold gently along natural seams and store in a cool, dark place. Keep holographic and UV pieces away from direct sunlight to preserve their magic.
What NOT to Do
- No dryer, ever. Heat shrinks fabric, warps prints, and destroys elasticity. Hang dry only.
- No bleach. It weakens fibers and ruins specialty finishes. Use a gentle, color-safe detergent.
- No fabric softener. It coats the fibers and breaks down the stretch that makes your rave wear fit like a dream.
- No wringing. Press water out gently—wringing stretches and distorts the fabric.
Festival Stain Survival Guide
Body paint: Rinse with cold water ASAP, then wash as usual. Grass stains: Dab with a bit of detergent before washing. Drink spills: Blot (don't rub), rinse with cold water, wash immediately if possible. The key? Act fast. The longer a stain sits, the harder it is to remove.
